Objective

I don't currently consider myself to be in the job market since I am very happily employed and not particularly interested in relocating, but if you are looking for someone to do design and development work in SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, Unigraphics, I-deas, or a similar engineering program, I may be interested. Additionally, I have developed some strong programming skills, and enjoy writing programs to automate redundant tasks. I also can design databases and customize existing databases for purposes of technical and product data management.

Current Employment

Employed by a Leading Manufacturer of Products for the Natural Gas Industry - Corona, CA
4/96 to present
My current title is Manager of Codes and Standards, although the scope of my position involves more than the title implies. Most of the work I do falls into one of the following three general areas:

      1) Product Development - Roughly half of my time is devoted to work involved with product development (both new products, and improvements to existing products.) I am involved in all phases of the new product development cycle from conception to production, including design (using SolidWorks), qualification testing (ensuring compliance to required and accepted industry standards), documentation, and production tooling. I also review and approve changes to existing products performed by others.

      2) Software Development - About one quarter of my time I work on the development of custom software to automate the design of different variations of existing product lines. The goal of the software is generally to enable someone with a minimal knowledge of a given product line to be able to walk through the design process with a customer, ensuring that all pertinent design information is collected. The software then produces one specification/drawing with information needed by the customer to approve the design, and another drawing with a complete parts list that manufacturing can use to build the product. This software is written using Visual Basic and Microsoft Access.

Computer Experience

I used to have a big list of software and languages that I am familiar with here, but I didn't see the point to that any longer. Basically, I have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 95/98 and NT and all components of the Microsoft Office Suite. I have used SolidWorks solid modeling software for the last two years ("pushing it to its limits" according to one colleague), and have also used AutoCad (but I am not at all interested in using it in the future.) I also have experience with CosmosWorks from SRAC for finite element analysis. Additionally, I have been programming with Visual Basic and Access for about the last three years. Before that, I did some work (small and simple programs) in FORTRAN.

Beyond what is listed above, I have super overall computer skills and can learn anything you might throw at me in short order. I am self taught on most of the software I know, and am considered by colleagues and friends to be one of those "guru" types (although I make no claims to such myself.)
